The majority of our Galapagos cruise passengers will likely want to spend a few nights on the mainland of Ecuador before flying to the Galapagos Islands, to start their cruise.

There are two main cities that people start or end their Galapagos Cruises from:

  • Guayaquil
  • Quito

Both locations offer a completely unique environment for visitors, with Guayaquil being on the west bank of the Guayas River and Quito being at an elevation of 2,850 metres above sea level. This makes Quito about the highest captial city in the world!

Where to Stay on the Galapagos Islands

There is a wonderful selection of hotels that can be found at the Galapagos Islands. Many travellers visit there for a short stay and not just to take a cruise. However, most of the islands are uninhabited, which is why there is such a concentration of them on Santra Cruz Island. Santra Cruise is only a short ferry ride away from the main airport on Baltra and thus, these hotels are very reachable for a holiday. Here are the most common hotel locations at the Galapagos:
