This Galapagos & Machu Picchu Tour is one of those incredible journeys you have to do once in your lifetime. You can follow in the wake of Charles Darwin, experiencing rare wildlife encounters at the incredible Galapagos Islands. And then its off to Peru, to experience the mystic of the Sacred Valley and the Lost City of the Incas...better know as Machu Picchu.

Join us on this incredible journey as we follow the footsteps of Charles Darwin in the Galapagos Islands and immerse ourselves in the Inca culture and civilisation in Peru.

Witness the breath taking bio diversity of the Galapagos Islands, home to the highest number of endemic species found nowhere else in the world. Swim with the sea lions; snorkel with white-tipped reef sharks, marine turtles and penguins; observe the Galapagos Giant Tortoise in the wild and observe the volcanic landscape on Bartolome Island.

Peru is a country with some of the most spectacular and varied scenery in South America. We will explore the wonderful sights and culture of the Sacred Valley and learn about the traditional customs and ancestral weaving techniques of an indigenous community. From the Sacred Valley we will board the Vistadome train to the legendary ‘Lost City of the Inca’s’; more well known as Machu Picchu. The tour ends with a memorable visit to Cuzco – The capital city of the ancient Inca civilisation. Cuzco is a showcase of several different cultures, Pre-Inca, Inca, Colonial and Republican thus providing us with a huge variety of ruins, temples, churches and mansions, all making this an unforgettable destination.

  • The Dragonfly (4 people) - open air cable car through the forest canopy at 50 metres per minute. Takes about 40 minutes
  • The Sky Bike (2 people) - open air bike ride through the forest, one person pedals. 200 metre stretch. 10 minutes or 20 minutes round trip
  • Hummingbird Garden (32 species) - paradise for photographers. About 1.5 hours long.
  • Strangler Fig Trail - dominated by palms over 40 metres high
  • Jungle Swing Trail - put the story of Tarzan to the test. Vines are bridges connecting the forest canopy, and some are strong enough to hold the weight of a person. Halfway along this trail, we can take a swing on Mashpi’s very own Tarzan rope-vine – shouting like Tarzan optional!
  • Luminous Trail (40 minutes) - mostly for night walks due to its richness in insects. It’s named after the luminous ‘fox fire’ fungus that occurs here. It’s a glow in the dark living experience!
  • Capuchin Monkey Trail (3.5 kms) - the longest trail
  • Torenteer Lagoon - The Mashpi forest is transformed at night, ideal habitat for various species of frogs – rain frogs, glass frogs and tree frogs. Close to hotel.
  • Copal Waterfall - Water is key to life in Mashpi. A refreshing dip full of nature's energy at the end of a hike! Beware: water temperature is between 18 and 20°C (64 and 68°F).
  • Magnolia Waterfall (45 mins) - bathing at the bottom – with an all-natural Jacuzzi!
  • Healing Waterfall (4 hours) - for the truly fit!
  • Observation Tower (26 metres/85 ft high) - ideal for wildlife lovers (toucans, woodpeckers, barbets, tanagers and parrots, as well as birds of prey)
