Fausto Llerena Breeding Center & Charles Darwin Research Station Visit (Puerto Ayora) 45m

Visit the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, an excellent place to observe several species of giant tortoises. Once pushed to the brink of extinction, these iconic Galápagos tortoises can now be seen up close. Adult tortoises are kept in a special corral, while a dedicated nursery cares for young tortoises until about age three, when their shells have fully hardened.

This site is also home to the Charles Darwin Research Station, established in 1964. The station plays a vital role in preserving the Galápagos ecosystem through the work of scientists, researchers, and volunteers. Although the offices are not open to the public, the facility serves as a center for international scientific study and provides important environmental education for the local community.
